By simply visiting certain, infected popular Web sites, home and business Internet surfers using Internet Explorer on a PC may indirectly download spyware onto their desktop computers, which in turn will cause it to malfunction. Mary Heideman of Tryon & Heideman was surfing the Internet for work related content after business hours when her computer displayed an error message and shut down suddenly. Fearing the worse, she called us to save her computer and valuable information.
Quite a few technicians out there recommend to simply format the computer and start it over. While wiping and reloading a computer is surely an effective way to get rid of malware, it’s not always the most practical, especially when you have important business data on your computer. When we showed up Mary’s computer would not boot up to the Windows desktop. We ran Spyware scan and found approximately 600 malware infections. Pretty amazing considering that Mary had visited only one infected web site. We finished the spyware scans and rebooted her machine and everything went back to normal.
